Jeremy Irish

Jeremy Irish, an entrepreneur, Air Force veteran, and ninth-generation American, is no stranger to the outdoors. Growing up in rural Virginia, he spent his childhood exploring thousands of acres of woods behind his home in Stafford, developing a deep appreciation for nature that has remained with him throughout his life. His experiences in the Boy Scouts and later as a Cryptologic Linguist in the United States Air Force strengthened his commitment to service, personal responsibility, and respect for the land.

A lifelong explorer with a background in web development, Jeremy co-founded Geocaching.com and helped transform a simple GPS pastime into a global outdoor activity enjoyed by millions. Under his leadership, geocaching became a worldwide community built around curiosity, discovery, and time spent outside.

Today, Jeremy continues that legacy with Wandering River. As both a passion project and part of his long-term retirement plan, Wandering River reflects the values he has carried since childhood. It offers a quiet, low-impact place for people to connect with nature at a gentle pace. His three teenage children have grown up with the same love for the outdoors, and the retreat reflects his desire to share those simple, restorative experiences with others.

Set along the scenic Kalama River, Wandering River provides peaceful cabins, domes, and small camping spaces designed with care and respect for the environment and the surrounding community. Jeremy’s vision is not one of large gatherings or commercial intensity, but of calm, reflection, and appreciation for the natural world.
